Prairie State guitar,
maple back and sides

The style of f-hole guitar was built with a thin top and back in the manner of the Larson round hole guitars but using a higher arch to the top and back. The Larsons were the only builders to use the idea of thin, braced tops for an f-hole style guitar. The sound produced is between an f-hole and a round hole, still having a jazzy flavor. The patented large metal tube runs the length of the body from the neck block to tail for additional strength of construction.
