| Bruno Mandolin, style 39, c. 1910 This Larson creation is another example of design excellence. The overall beauty is exemplified by the white pearl fingerboard with abalone fret position markers with colors ranging from pink to green. The fingerboard inlays are bordered with a thin strip of black, while the frets extend over part of the ivoriod neck binding. From the simple body purfling to the beautiful abalone pickguard floral bouquet, this near mint beauty is museum quality. It shows the usual (but not always) ebony showing below the fingerboard binding and the wood ledge below the soundhole binding. The rosewood and holly ribs are bordered with the wide strip of mahogany which is next to the beautiful rosewood skirt. The peghead back is adorned with lovely engraved tuner plates and has the Bruno, New York logo with the # 39, which I believe to be a catalog number. Price with original soft case, $1,800 |
